JUGGLING

TRICKS

There are many "numbers jugglers" out there who devote their lives to maximizing how many balls / clubs / rings / etc they can juggle at once. Me, I'm a different kind of numbers juggler: I maximize how many different original tricks I can come up with. In this section, I will share my favorite trick inventions with you.

Name Video Description
Ping Pong This trick is the secret sauce to my juggling style. One ball goes back and forth like a ping pong ball while the other two just stay in the middle. It's a very basic trick, but what makes it so great is that there is no limit to how fast you can make this trick and how many ways you can embellish it to make more advanced tricks.
Fork Drops An unusual aggressive looking trick that involves fork catches, sharp downward motions, and a good deal of speed.
Flurries This blazing fast trick happens if you throw in a quick carrying motion in between every throw of a regular 3 ball juggling pattern. This one is especially impressive when used with illuminated or burning props, since it will leave behind a noticeable trail. Try not to blink while doing this one!
Cat Scratch A fast and furious trick that involves some very rapid downward clawing motions. The best part of the trick is the sound: if you are up close, you will hear a flurry of accentuated catching sounds that is faster than any other trick that I know of.
Seesaw This is where I take a ball out of its regular pattern, carry it way up and to the side as if to wind up for a throw, and slam it down back into the juggling pattern.
Raise The Roof An interesting looking vertical trick with some pronounced upward ball and hand movements
Side Swipes This trick involves some very wide flailing of the arms to carry balls from the way outside of the pattern back into the middle.
Rolfenstein's Revenge A smooth looking trick involving some circular hand motions. And in case you are a juggling geek: this trick looks similar to Rubenstein's Revenge, except that it is easier to perform and translates very well to other props like clubs and torches.
Cherry Picking All 3 balls go straight up and down in columns while I pluck them at their peak to send them even higher. This one's not my own invention - I found it in an online juggling database. But it's very rare and fits my style very well, so I've included it as one of my personal tricks anyway. If you like this one, you'll also like Pull-ups.
Pull-ups Every other throw, I'll pluck a ball from its peak and pull it up even higher. If you liked this one, you'll really like Cherry Picking.
Zigzagz Two balls on the outside keep going up and down, while the 3rd ball flies all over the place in a crazy zigzag pattern. It's ridiculously difficult to master, but I think it was worth it. If you like this, you'll also like the related Z trick.
Z Two balls on the outside keep going up and down, while the 3rd ball flies in the shape of the letter Z. Very similar to zigzagz, except that the top line of the Z makes this one even more difficult.
Multistein This is a multiplexed variation of a classic trick called Rubenstein's Revenge. This means you will see a lot of circular movements and 2 balls in the same hand at the same time. Sorry, that's about the best I can do to describe it. If you want to find out what it looks like you'll just have to watch the video.
Penguin Dance Look at me, I'm a dancing penguin. Here's a goofy way to combine penguin catches with circular hand movements. If you like this one, you'll also like the Waggle pattern.
Waggle This trick combines goofy looking penguin catches with columns to get a lot of side to side motion. If you like this one, you'll also like the Penguin Dance.
Sporks A special concoction using fork catches, which is when you catch the ball with the back of your hand.
Semicircles Remember how I said that Ping Pong is a great trick to learn because there are so many variations based off of it? Well, here's my favorite one.
Wipe Off Move your arms as if you are wiping Windex off of a window. OK, now do it while juggling 3 balls. Congratulations, you just mastered Wipe Off. If you like this one, you'll also like Semicircles and Rolfenstein's Revenge. But you'll really love Flurries.
The Wave My Personal favorite trick, this original pattern involves a multiplex (2 balls in the same hand at once) and some wavelike arm movements
Snowball Juggle Here's me doing a juggling trick that most jugglers don't have the balls to pull off...
